The Crail Golfing Society is the 7th oldest club in the world. Tom Morris laid out the Old Balcomie course in 1895. Crail is a combination of stunning coastal views and hugely enjoyable golf. The traditional classic links course was created when course design was governed by the lie of the land, hence the unusual combination of 3 par 5s, 6 par 3s, and 9 par 4s, producing a tough par of 69 especially when the wind blows. There are several spectacular holes where drives are taken over rocky bays, long par 3s are perched on top of vertical cliffs making for an exciting game of golf. The wind is pretty constant and ever changing making the course very tricky. This is a great course to play after the longer courses based in St Andrews.
