Doonbeg was designed by two-time British Open Champion, Greg Norman, and opened for play in 2002. The Par-72 layout features a single loop of nine holes out and nine back, playing 6,885 yards from the back tees. The most natural routing within the existing dunes resulted in an unusual combination of five par 3s and five par 5s.
Doonbeg is a truly stunning course that seems that it has been there as long as the dunes. Blessed with an extraordinary natural surrounding, fourteen of its greens and twelve of its fairways were designed by simply mowing the natural land – no bulldozer necessary.
The signature hole here is the 14th, a par three and one of the most sensational short holes in all of Ireland.
This is a course that you cannot miss on your trip to Ireland.
