Macrihanish Dunes is one the several new golf courses designed and laid out in Scotland. Macrihanish Dunes sits within a site of special scientific interests immediately north of the original links Macrihanish. Because of the constraints of Scottish National Heritage, in order to protect selected wetland areas and dunes, the course is set out in a way that leaves several lengthy walks between holes. Fairways are mown but are far from manicured as the use of fertilizers and drainage or irrigation is forbidden. The large heaving land-forms often rise and fall dramatically between tee and green. This is as natural a golf course and setting as you could imagine.
To complement Macrihanish Dunes, the Ugadale Hotel and the Ugadale Cottages provide excellent accommodation so that you can get a game in at both Macrihanish Dunes and Macrihanish.
