The Torrance Course was designed by Dennis Griffiths in conjunction with the late golfing legend Gene Sarazen and former Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance. The course is 7230 yards long built on the cliff top over looking the North Sea, with some of the holes offering spectacular views over St Andrews. The Torrance Course will be a British Open pre-qualifying course when The Open is next held at St Andrews. The advantage for the high handicap golfer on this course is the number of available tees allowing the course to be reduced in yardage and become more manageable for all levels of golf. Year on year, the Torrance has produced immaculate green conditions and has proved very popular with the visiting golfer.
My favourite hole is the par 3 17th hole. Measuring 184 yards it presents a challenging penultimate hole if the match is still alive.
